Vive le Jumelage !
On my very first visit to Dourdan with the steering committe - a reconnoitre to see if we liked the town and wanted to go ahead with the Twinning - I stayed with Pierre & Monique Boco and a real friendship was born. ( Did we like the town and did we want to twin? - YES ! )
Pierre and Monique and Roger ( my late husband ) and I all got on very well. We got to know each other and our respective children on subsequent visits, Pierre and Monique came here to stay, and we went on holidays together.
We have watched their children grow up - all be it from afar - get married and have children of their own. We attended the weddings and had a wonderful time.
Soon after Twinning officially started the Dourdan choral came to Dunmow and we welcomed Claudine to our home. She and her husband Jo became our good friends too. We got to know their children, stayed with them, and attended Christelle's wedding.
Twinning allows you to get to know individual people and the culture of the country and to make lasting friendships and enrich your life in a way that staying in a hotel or apartment cannot.
Vive le Jumelage !
Gaenor Jones.
