We have been twinning for 21 years.
We are twinned with Dourdan, a beautiful and historic French town of similar size to Dunmow, located 30 miles south west of Paris in an ancient royal hunting forest. Dourdan has a fine medieval castle and a Saturday market.
Every second year we visit Dourdan for a long weekend, staying with host families who provide superb hospitality, accommodation and meals (all we pay for is the coach and ferry). Dourdan's Twinning Association arranges trips to famous places in France (most recently a Loire chateau and wine cellars), with a dinner and social evening on the Saturday. We get to know delightful French families, and renew close friendships which have blossomed through Twinning.
Dourdan's Twinners visit us on alternate years, staying with Dunmow hosts. We entertain them in a similar fashion, arranging a visit to London, Cambridge, Colchester, Windsor or other places of interest, and finish the weekend with a dinner and social evening. Besides the long weekend visits, Twinners from the two towns also meet for shorter day or weekend get-togethers in England or France.
In addition to Twinning visits we organise regular social events for our Dunmow members - dances, barbecues, wine & whisky tastings, and a fish & seafood supper - where we have fun and make new friends. Our events have a reputation for great value.

The annual subscription is £10 per member. Cheques should be made payable to Dunmow Twinning, and sent to Marian Steven (contact as above). Please include your name, address & phone number.
